Background Radiation x85 High Rain pH Following & During a Storm on 15th May 2012, the pH of the rainwater was tested at the pH of 8 .. Two weeks later, rainfall was reading at pH 7 & again so a week ago, as tested with both a New & my old monitor, which are within a whisker of agreement. Pure water has a pH of 7.0, or neutral. Rainwater is usually mildly acidic, with a pH of 5.5 to 6.0 The pH of modern rainwater is supposed to be between 5.5 and 6.0 because of carbon dioxide that's dissolved in the atmosphere, so quite strange to find these high pH readings. Others have also found rainfall pH to be high. A new UK Friend, RadLevelsEngland, all power to him, is monitoring Background Radiation Levels, and is finding disturbingly higher counts than we're told exist, higher than around Tokyo in some cases!
