Strawberry, my 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse was squicking when I stepped on the breaks. It was coming from the rear but in your case may be coming from the front. All I needed to do was clean the break drums because it was dirty and I still had good wear on the shoes. You can do this with the front break pads as well if they are making noise when you apply the breaks and if they are not worn too much.
